Frank Avorsey wins Dr. Ishmael Yamson MTN Invitational Golf tournament

Frank Avorsey emerged as the winner of the Dr. Ishmael Yamson MTN Invitational Golf tournament held over the weekend.

99 golfers participated in the tournament which was organized to honor the Board Chairman of MTN Ghana Dr. Ishmael Yamson at the Achimota Golf Course on Saturday.

In the main event, Men’s Group A, Frank Avorsey won the category with a handicap of eight with 38 points, followed by Ayoub Ghandour in the second position with 36 points and Eric Gene with 33 points in the third position.

The longest drives were won by Vasty Amoafo Yeboah and Kweku Asare Ofosuhene.

Closest to the pin, Men and Women went to Adjoa Asare Asamoah and Frank Avorsey respectively.

In the women’s and men’s Seniors, Margaret Owusu Baah and Captain Kwesi Amoako – Yeboah emerged as winners in that category.

The Ladies handicap second position went to Mariatu Bah, with Elizabeth Essel – Koomson winning.

Men’s Group B second position was taken by Amos Boateng and first place went to Fiifi Thompson.

Mr. David Akutu Chairman of Achimota Golf Club commended Dr. Yamson for his service to the Achimota Golf Club.

He revealed that Dr. Yamson is on record as the first person to visit the golf course every day.

He proposed the toast in honor of Dr. Ishmael Yamson whose Impact, Relevance and Integrity were unmeasurable.

Dr. Yamson who joined MTN in 2011 responded that after working in the banking industry and Unilever, he has learnt much in the Telecommunications sphere and still learning.

“I want to use this opportunity to appreciate the MTN family especially, as well as our partners, stakeholders, the business community, and Achimota Golf Club for organizing this tournament to celebrate my life. Thank you all and I pray for everyone here to live longer than 80 years because I am not checking out any time soon, God being our strength”

“Congratulations to all our winners for such a splendid performance and better luck next time to those who couldn’t win today. Thank you once again for joining us and I am grateful to MTN and Achimota Golf club for the recognition”, Dr Yamson said after the event.
