Leading member of an Ashanti region based support group of Kennedy Agyapong’s bid to run for the 2024 presidential candidacy of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ohemeng Moore, has boldly proclaimed the National Executives of the party cannot punish them in the name of disregarding party rules.

According to him, other candidates who have revealed intentions to run for the party’s flagbearer race are publicly campaigning without fear, and because they (supporters of Kennedy Agyapong) do not want to be disadvantaged have joined the bandwagon.

“There can be no sanctions placed on us or our candidate because we have done nothing wrong. Everyone is using people for campaigns and others are campaigning in the name of others. If the party goes ahead to sanction NPP flagbearer hopefuls then there will be no elections in the party. I have been reliably informed some party bigwigs, including Chairman Wontumi were campaigning for a flagbearer hopeful when the party executives visited the UK,” he disclosed.

Ohemeng Moore made these comments in an interview with Happy98.9FM’s Don Kwabena Prah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk show.

He exclaimed no one will suffer undue advantage ahead of the lift of the ban on pubic campaigning. “The party is campaigning for an aspirant and they can’t try and cheat people as it is just wrong. I am telling you we have given people undue advantage and you will be waiting for the party to officially pave way for campaigning only to realize it has ended.”

About 180 NPP groups in the Ashanti region recently declared their support for the Assin Fosu Member of Parliament for the NPP flagbearership position.

Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanteng had been the two leading candidates.

Ohemeng Moore described the support to Kennedy Agyapong as solid, increasing his chances at the flagbearership.
