Former Deputy Defence Minister, Major (Rtd.) Derek Oduro, has shared that news of the return of Chinese national and notorious ‘”galamsey” kingpin, Aisha Huang, to Ghana comes as no shock to him.

In an interview with Don Kwabena Prah on Happy98.9 FM’s “Epa Hoa Daben” socio-political talk show, he reiterated that the work of human institutions record such errors and they should be considered normal.

Major Oduro argued that, the porous nature of Ghana’s borders is prone to welcoming more of Aisha’s personality and illegal migrants to the country.

“This news shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone in this country because we are all working with a human element. In Europe, we have seen several Ghanaians deported yet they are back there living and working in these countries. So the news on Aisha isn’t shocking for me because our borders are all porous. She was smart enough not to use Kotoko International Airport to avoid arrest. She’d definitely pass through the borders of Ghana’s neighbors,” he said.

The Former Deputy Minister however accused Ghanaians involved in illegal mining of assisting the “Galamsey Queen” to resettle in Ghana.

“She would have been helped by a Ghana because everyone involved in the Galamsey is a Ghanaian. They are the very people who lead and have partnered with other nationals to destroy the environment,” he added.

Huang Ruixia alias Aisha Huang, has been arrested again and arraigned for fresh charges of engaging in sales and purchases of minerals without a license together with three other Chinese nationals.

The other three are Jong Li Hua; Huang Jei and Huiad Hiahu

She was charged last Friday September 2, 2022, but because there was no Chinese interpreter present, the court presided over by Bright Acquah has yet to hear her plea to the allegations.
