Speak to fellow MPs if you want galamsey to end – Abu Jinapor tasked

Communication Team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kafui Amegah, has charged the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abu Jinapor to address fellow Members of Parliament (MPs) if the fight against illegal mining can be won.

He reveals illegal miners are being backed by the most MPs, making the fights against the menace fruitless.

“If we want to end galamsey, then we should speak to the MPs. The MPs in galamsey areas must be called and we will all come to find out how many of them are engaged in galamsey. The MPs are the ones engaged in galamsey and enjoying the money to the detriment of the general public.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources has said that the fight against illegal mining (galamsey) and natural resources mismanagement should not be a political stunt.

Speaking at the 40th anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources (FRNR) at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Samuel Abu Jinapor said that it is wrong to address the issue of exploitation of natural resources at the play of party politics.

Speaking to Sefah-Danquah on the ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political talk, Kafui Amegah said, “Abu Jinapor should speak to his fellow ministers if he wants galamsey to stop and not just say anything in the air. Ask yourself if all the people who have been arrested in galamsey can afford to buy or rent excavators for mining? They definitely cannot and are being sponsored by MPs.”
