Lawyer Martin Kpebu to lead street protest; ‘Ku me preko’ reloaded
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare on Whatsapp

A Ghanaian lawyer has said he will lead a street protest to demand President Akufo-Addo resign over the recent economic crisis that has disrupted people’s livelihoods.

Martin Kpebu is rallying Ghanaians to join him in what he has described as a similar protest the President led in 1995 over harsh conditions under the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

“Ku me preko demo for God and country. Let’s join the Ku me preko demo reloaded to force Akufo-Addo to resign.”

He has scheduled to lead the march on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at 7 am.

While appealing to Ghanaians to gather at the Obra Spot at the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange for the protest, Mr. Kpebu said the President must fix the economy, and end the cedi depreciation, and the unbridled looting.

Ghana’s ailing economy has been attributed to the devastating effect of COVID-19 and the Russian invasion. There is currently a strong campaign to get the country’s Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to resign as he engages the International Monetary Fund on a bailout package.
