Transport Fare Increment: Lapaz trotro drivers, mates allegedly beat man to death over GHc2

At a time when money is tight, a middle-aged man is said to have died in a fight over a GH2 bus fare.

Antwi Edmond, a Twitter user, said that a passenger kept complaining on a public bus after he was told that his fare had gone up by GH2.

Antwi Edmond says that the man’s crying in the car made the driver so mad that he turned around and went back to the bus station halfway through the trip.

But the dead person, who was still angry, reportedly refused to get off the bus. People say that the situation led to a fight between the passenger, the driver, and the conductor, who all worked together against him.

“The driver took his car back to the Lapaz bus terminal again, where their coworkers were there to back them up.” We were all asked to get off the bus, but the man causing all the trouble still said he wasn’t going to get off. When persuasion didn’t work, a force was used.

“During the force used by the trotro mates at the station, the man decided to fight back.” This led to a huge fight between him and our bus conductor and his mate, with support from their coworkers. After several minutes of fighting, this male passenger died, “an eyewitness with the Twitter handle @Murphy Vainn wrote in a thread.

“He died because of a punch he didn’t see coming.” His head hit the ground at the airport terminal, and he died. ” May his soul be at peace forever. I can’t believe he gave up his life for a 2 cedi raise.

Some of the videos that the eyewitness shared show the dead body of the person who died being put into a taxi and driven to a hospital.

Transport companies all over the country have said that prices will go up on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

The Ghana Private Road Transport Union said that prices would go up by 19%, but the Concerned Drivers Association said that prices would go up by 30%.

This is happening at a time when the economy is bad and inflation is going up, which makes the prices of goods and services go up.
