The Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Ambassador Edward Boateng has paid a courtesy call on the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, H.E Lu Kun.

The meeting took place last week at the Chinese Embassy in Accra.

The purpose of the visit was to propose a potential partnership between SIGA and China’s State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC) in the areas of training, investment, and economic progress for the two countries.

Ambassador Boateng in his remarks commended China’s government for its continuous support to Ghana and Africa over the years. He briefed Ambassador Lu Kun on SIGA’s activities and proposed collaborations between Ghanaian and Chinese state-owned enterprises in the exchange of ideas and skills to build strategic partnerships for both countries’ economic growth.

“SIGA would like to cooperate with the State-owned Assets and Supervision Commission to share ideas and gain knowledge in order to transform our SOEs and increase profitability,” he said.

He also stated Ghana’s decision to use the bilateral advantage to connect its entities with Chinese enterprises to develop each other, as well as the intent of some Ghanaian firms to establish factories in China.

H.E. Lu Kun thanked Ambassador Boateng for the visit and congratulated Ghana on qualifying for the World Cup. He emphasized China’s importance to Ghana’s diplomatic relations and pledged his country’s support and commitment to facilitating the collaboration between SIGA and SASAC.

Ambassador Boateng thanked the Chinese Ambassador for the warm welcome and presented him with a Ghana Black Stars jersey to rally support for Ghana at the ongoing World Cup.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Stephen Asiedu, Head of Corporate Affairs, SIGA, Mr. Godfred Sowah Khartey, Manager; Director- General’s Secretariat, Julie Karikari (Mrs.) Public Relations Officer, SIGA. Other officials from the Chinese Embassy were Mr. ZHU Jing, Deputy Chief of Mission, Political Counsellor, and Mr. Sha, a political attaché.
