MTN Ghana, one of the country’s leading telecommunications firms has decided against implementing its planned flat fee of GH20 on all cash-out transactions GH2,000 and more.
The decision which was slated to go into effect on July 1st, has since been reversed in the early hours on Tuesday, June 27.
MTN Ghana made the announcement of the change in a statement issued, saying, “The planned review of the cash-out fee for MoMo has been withdrawn. The current cash-out fee of 1%, capped at GHS10, still remains and will be charged to your wallet. Do not pay any other fees. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
Users of MTN MobileMoney had expressed considerable worry and interest in the anticipated charge modification. MTN MobileMoney Limited informed clients of the modification and subsequent cancellation via an SMS circular.
The circular said that the current charge structure of 1% of the transaction amount would have remained to apply to cash-out transactions under GH2,000. However, a fixed fee of GHS20 would have been taken out of the customer’s wallet for cash-out transactions of GH2,000 and higher.
