Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dumelo has advised voters in the ongoing by-election in the Assin North constituency to vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a recent interview on Happy 98.9, he urged residents to accept monetary offerings from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) but ultimately vote against them

Dumelo disclosed that some members from the NPP party are distributing cash amounts ranging from 100 cedis – 200 cedis to individuals in the area.

However, he expressed confidence that voters would not be swayed solely by the financial incentives. Instead, he emphasized the importance of electing a candidate who genuinely had the best interests of the community at heart.

“We read from the grounds that the NPP are giving each person a 100 cedis to 200 cedis, but we only go to seek their help to make the country a better place. They’ll vote for Gyakye-Quayson because he’s the right man for them,” Dumelo stated.

The NDC candidate revealed that he had received feedback from the people before the start of the campaign, indicating that they were aware of the NPP’s intention to distribute money. Despite this awareness, Dumelo believed that voters were well-informed and would make a conscious decision to support the candidate who prioritized their needs.

“We believe money sharing will barely influence voters because I think two-three weeks ago before we started the campaign, the feedback from the people suggested they knew the NPP would share money. What we told them was that they should take those money, spend it on whatever they want in helping with their expenses but vote for the person who has them at heart. They should vote against people who share money, and I believe that’s what will go on,” Dumelo explained.

John Dumelo also expressed optimism about the progress they had made so far, citing positive responses from the community.

“I’ve been here for two weeks now, and we’ve been doing massive underground works, and so far so good everything is positive for the party,” Dumelo said.
