Head coach of Ghana Premier League outfit, Dreams FC, Karim Zito believes the decision by the Ghana Football Association to launch the Ghana Football DNA is a step in the right direction.
Earlier today, Wednesday, July 12, at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, the FA launched the National Football Philosophy through its technical directorate.
Ghana’s Football DNA is the fruit of two years of work by the directorate led by its director, Bernhard Lippert.
The comprehensive publication, titled “Ghana’s Football DNA,” aims to identify the characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, values and history of Ghanaian football, ultimately shaping the nation’s football identity.
Describing the significance of the publication, the GFA boss emphasized that it marks a pivotal moment in the history of Ghana football, providing a scientific treatment of the sport and laying the foundation for fixing the fundamentals of Ghana football. He drew parallels to an organism’s DNA, which uniquely identifies and functions as the blueprint for its existence.
According to coach Zito in an interview on Happy FM, such an initiative by the FA is laudable and would reignite the love of football people in the sport.
He urged all stakeholders to explore and embrace Ghana’s Football Philosophy, recognizing it as a significant step towards realizing the country’s footballing potential.
The DNA is centered on four moments; Ball Possession in Offense, Transition to Defense and Out of Possession Defense – areas which will have specific demands from Ghanaian players.
The GFA has admitted results of the National Football Philosophy will take time to materialize.
