Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Mr. Akwasi Agyeman has called on the diaspora to join Africa’s expedition to create a new narrative and place Africa on a pedestal of international recognition.

The senior officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority at the Returns Conversations event which was held at the Accra International Conference Centre, commended the efforts of the institutions, bodies and initiatives that were under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, to bolster African unity and strengthen ties with Africans all over the world.

Initiatives such as ‘Beyond The Return’; a ten year Pan-African project, launched by President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo in 2019 under the theme, “A decade of African Renaissance -2020-2030” was referenced by Mr. Agyeman as a headlining project making tremendous strides globally.

“Changing the narrative requires a concerted effort between the people of Ghana, Africa and the Diaspora; none of us can do it alone, we must do it together.” he asserted.

Meanwhile Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey aligned with the GTA official adding that the Ghanaian creative industry is an industry with extraordinary potential to expand and serve as a major revenue stream for Ghana and Africa at large. He noted that Ghana and the African continent must collaborate with the Diaspora to make this move an efficient one.

The Return Conversation was hosted by Ghana Tourism Authority and Beyond The Return under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. It focused on the role of music and film play in uniting the African continent. The event was coupled with the exhibition of rich Ghanaian culture and detailed accounts of the creative arts industry in strategic dialogue
