Bernard Quartey, the President of the Ghana Amateur Boxing Association (GABF), says he is confident of Team Ghana securing qualification to the much-anticipated 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

With the Games set to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024, Quartey is fervently working towards ensuring that Ghana’s boxing contingent shines on the international stage.

Quartey, a seasoned figure in the world of sports administration, spoke passionately about the prospects of Ghanaian boxers participating in the prestigious event.

In an exclusive interview with Wamputu Sports, He highlighted the importance of meticulous preparation, strategic planning, and unyielding support for the athletes to increase their chances of securing coveted spots at the Paris Olympics.

With Paris as the primary host city and 16 other cities across metropolitan France also participating, the event is poised to be a global celebration of athleticism and determination.

“The Minstry of Youth and Sports has been very supportive.We have a pool of exceptionally talented boxers in Ghana, and it’s our responsibility to provide them with the best possible platform to showcase their skills at the Olympic level,” Quartey remarked. “The Paris 2024 Olympics is not just a competition; it’s an opportunity for our athletes to demonstrate their prowess and make our nation proud.”

“Yes, we approached Freezy Mcbones and he agreed to represent Ghana and win medals”.

Quartey emphasized the need for collaboration among various stakeholders, including coaches, trainers, and officials, to create a conducive environment for the athletes’ growth and success.

He also mentioned ongoing discussions with potential sponsors and partners who share the vision of supporting Ghanaian boxing and contributing to the nation’s representation at the 2024 Games.
