In response to the recent resignation of former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party’s leadership in the Ashanti Region has issued a directive to remove all campaign materials featuring Kyerematen from party offices across the region.

The decision, conveyed through a memorandum dated September 25, 2023, and signed by Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, instructs all constituency chairpersons in the Ashanti Region to promptly take down posters, banners, flyers, and other campaign materials associated with the former party member.

The memo emphasized that these promotional materials are no longer relevant within the party offices following Kyerematen’s resignation. It stated, “In view of Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the party, all his posters, banners, flyers, and paraphernalia at our party offices in all the constituencies must be removed with immediate effect. Once he has forfeited his membership, it is just right and fair that these items are removed from our offices.”

Alan Kyerematen’s departure from the NPP occurred just a month after he withdrew from the party’s flagbearer race. Subsequently, he announced his candidacy as an independent candidate for the 2024 presidential election.

Explaining his decision during a media engagement on Monday, Kyerematen stated that his goal is to offer the NPP an opportunity to participate in a government of national unity while reassuring the party’s members of his continued commitment to the founding principles of the party.

In response to Kyerematen’s departure, the NPP is set to officially address the issue at the party’s headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra, today, September 26, 2023.
