Henry Acquah, coach of Division Two side Young Redbulls Football club, has expressed his satisfaction with the recent ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the dispute between his club and Tema Youth owner Wilfred Osei Palmer over the transfer of player Joseph Paintsil.

Acquah in an interview on Happy FM, began by acknowledging Palmer’s knowledge of the sports world, stating, “Osei Kwaku Palmer is someone well versed in our sports world, and we need people like him at the helm of affairs in our football.”

The CAS ruling marked a significant milestone in this ongoing dispute. It rejected Palmer’s appeal, upholding the previous decision by the GFA Appeals Committee, which required Tema Youth FC to make specific payments related to the transfer of Joseph Paintsil. These payments included EUR 688,000 to Young Red Bull FC, EUR 150,000 to the GFA, and EUR 150,000 to the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA).

Coach Acquah expressed his club’s willingness to resolve the matter through negotiations, saying, “We (Young Redbulls) are still open to negotiating payments of the outstanding balance owed to us.”

He continued, “There were lots of controversies surrounding the transfer of Joseph Paintsil to Genk, and we are glad a final decision has been reached.”
