Enoch Teye Mensah (ET), a distinguished veteran politician and former Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram, has sadly passed away at the age of 77.

The statesman breathed his last on Sunday evening while receiving medical treatment in South Africa.

E.T. Mensah, a stalwart member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), leaves behind a legacy of remarkable public service. Over his illustrious career, he served in a multitude of vital roles, including Minister for Education, Minister of Youth and Sports, Mayor of Accra, and the representative of the Council of State for the Greater Accra Region.

His political journey began in earnest when he was elected as a Member of Parliament during the 1996 General Election, serving in the second parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana. He continued to represent the Ningo Prampram constituency with distinction until 2016 when he lost the NDC’s parliamentary primary to Samuel Nartey George.

E.T. Mensah’s passing has left a void in Ghana’s political landscape, as he was not only known for his dedication to public service but also his statesmanship and unwavering commitment to the betterment of his nation.

This tragic loss follows closely on the heels of the passing of former First Lady Theresa Kufuor, marking a sombre period in Ghanaian politics. The nation mourns the loss of these two influential figures and reflects on their significant contributions to the country’s growth and development.

Ghana bids farewell to E.T. Mensah, and his memory will undoubtedly live on as a beacon of inspiration for future generations of leaders and politicians in the country.
