Medeama SC board member, Dr. Tony Aubynn, has expressed his backing for the newly elected Ghana Football Association Executive Council, even though he lost his seat.

Tony Aubynn’s bid to retain his position on the Ghana FA Exco faced a setback when he fell short of the required number of votes during the Elective Congress in Tamale.

The football administrator had been competing for one of the five seats allotted to the 18 Ghana Premier League clubs, but his campaign took a downturn as he only garnered 7 votes, which were insufficient to secure his seat.

Despite this setback, Tony Aubynn has pledged his support for the newly elected Executive Council of the football association.

“The Congress has gone very smoothly. It has been calmer than expected, especially considering the stories surrounding it. So, I believe everything has gone quite well,” he stated in an interview on Happy FM.

“I may not have succeeded, but that’s alright; it’s all in service to football. Overall, those who have been elected are capable individuals, and I offer them my support,” he added.

At the end of the election, former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah, Randy Abbey, Nana Oduro Sarfo, Frederick Acheampong, and Kingsley Osei Bonsu emerged victorious in the fiercely contested race to join the Ghana FA Exco.
