Leader of Asaase Yaa Center, Evelyn Walson Annan has charged Africans to revisit the bible as she argued that it contains the history of the continent and its “stolen” past.

Speaking in an exclusive interview on Happy 98.9 FM’s “Nsem Pii” with Rev. Nyansa Boakwa, she threw more light on what she described as the Negro Bible known generally as the slave bible.

“When the English came to colonize the Africans there was a place they were taken to and it was a plantation area for the slaves to work. Joseph Lumpkin introduced the Negro bible for all persons to get access to read and for copywright as well,” she claimed.

“This bible has been in existence purposely for the slaves .Even before these slaves will be released to the field to work they read this bible and pray before leaving. This bible does not have Exodus, 90% of the old testament is not inside and 50% of the New Testament is also not included. The book of Exodus has been taken out because it encourages emancipation and freedom,” she explained.

“These English people were scared that if the Africans had read then they will find out that they have been trapped. But instead in the Negro bible it has been stated that as a slave you must obey what your master instructs you to do, this bible only promotes slavery,” she added.

She indicated that getting a hard copy of the slave bible now is almost impossible. However, the Museum of Washington DC has a copy while softcopies of the book could be downloaded on Amazon.

She further advised that Africans must revisit the Bible, reason with it and ask questions on its narrations and teachings.
