The Ghana Police Service has arrested an additional suspect in connection with the murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
In a press release issued and signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID, the Police identified the suspect as Abdul Aziz Iddrisu, also known as Baaluuse.
According to the statement, the suspect was apprehended on February 17 during a joint intelligence-led operation at his hideout at Polego, a suburb of Bolgatanga.
Police said three mobile phones were retrieved from the suspect at the time of his arrest.
The devices are currently undergoing analysis as part of ongoing investigations into the case.
Investigators further disclosed that the suspect has been seen in videos displaying weapons believed to be linked to criminal activities in the area.
As a result, a special police operation is underway to locate and retrieve the weapons and to arrest other accomplices connected to the murder.
The suspect remains in police custody assisting with investigations.
Authorities say further updates will be communicated as the probe progresses.
