AFCON 2023: Anthony Baffoe confident in Black Stars’ chances in Group B

Former Ghana international,Anthony Baffoe, is feeling positive about the Black Stars’ prospects of advancing from Group B in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The group poses a challenge as it includes strong opponents such as Egypt, Cape Verde, and Mozambique.

Baffoe, who represented the Black Stars 25 times, acknowledges the difficulty of the group and remarks, “It’s a very tricky group with Egypt, a formidable team led by Mohammed Salah. Cape Verde has always been a tough opponent for us, and Mozambique adds to the challenge as another Portuguese-speaking country.”

Despite the tough competition, Baffoe has faith in Ghana’s ability to progress. He states, “I’m confident that we will finish either first or second in the group. Although our performance in the previous tournament in Cameroon was not up to par, we have historically been a strong team. We still have experienced players like Thomas Partey, Jordan Ayew, and the rising superstar Mohammed Kudus. Our goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi brings stability to the team. I believe in our team, although it won’t be easy, Ghana will advance from this group. The gap between the teams is narrowing, and we need to remain vigilant to succeed.”
