The Accra High Court has set December 4, 2023, as the deadline for issuing its ruling in the case of En Huang, also known as Aisha Huang, in a much anticipated legal action. Aisha Huang is accused of several offences connected to illicit mining in Ghana.

The defence counsel and prosecution, representing their respective sides, informed the court that they had submitted their written arguments and evidence for consideration.

Aisha Huang is currently on trial for multiple alleged offences, which include engaging in illegal mining operations without the necessary license, facilitating the involvement of individuals in unlawful mining activities, and re-entering Ghana after her deportation.

She has steadfastly denied these charges and has been held in prison custody pending the court’s decision.

The case put forth by the State asserts that the complainants are security and intelligence officers who have diligently investigated Aisha Huang’s activities. According to the prosecution, Aisha has gained notoriety for her involvement in various small-scale mining activities, commonly referred to as ‘galamsey,’ throughout the country.

In a significant twist, the prosecution revealed that Aisha had previously been arrested in 2017 on similar charges but managed to evade prosecution by leaving the country. Upon her return, she allegedly resumed small-scale mining activities without the required license.
