Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has explained his decision to use young players over the senior once in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors has not been impressive after nine games into the domestic top-flight season, winning two, drawing five and losing two games in the process.

The Ghanaian giants are currently 14th on the league table with 10 points.

Ogum, who made a return to the club before the start of the season has been criticized for his overreliance on young players in the team at the expense of the senior players.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Ogum disclosed the senior players in the team are unable to impress at training, hence the decision to stick to the young players.

“Most of the Senior players are not putting in much effort at training and that’s the reason I start the young guys who originally are not supposed to start” he said.

Asante Kotoko are away to Sameraboi to face Samartex in the week 10 fixture on Sunday.
