Ghanaian actor and socialite, George Quaye has expressed the need for industry players in the creative arts industry to increase support regarding patronage of Theatre in Ghana.

Speaking in a live X session hosted by @Graphic Online, to discuss ‘Is Theatre Getting Relevant Attention In The Creative Space’ on Thursday, November 9 2023, he noted that Theatre has a significant potential in earning Ghana massive revenue.

He added that past and present governments have not made enough investments into the sector which indicated how Theatre is prioritized in Ghana. “Consistently over the years, governments pasts and presents have not done nicely as far as Theatre is concerned; the government will always have something on the table; schools, water, food; if we do not get louder than the clutter in the space, we will never get the attention that we think we deserve “

He added that the National Theatre of Ghana standing as the only venue that can host events for the creative arts space will not promote the patronage of Theatre in Ghana.

The playwright called on all players within the creative space to promote Theatre in and advocate for better treatment of Theatre facilities and make them national assets.
