Hearts of Oak’s Communications Director, Opare Addo, has explained the decision to part ways with Dutch coach Martin Koopman.

Addo in an interview on Happy FM emphasized the necessity for change, stating, “We needed FRESH ENERGY to ensure the club’s season goals could reach a positive conclusion.” The decision, he explained, was reached amicably after extensive discussions with Koopman.

Addo clarified, “It wasn’t any difficult meeting at all, and he also understood that Hearts of Oak is a football club.” The mutual agreement to part ways was sealed during these talks, indicating a cooperative understanding between the club and the now-former coach.

Addo emphasized that the separation was conducted without animosity, stating, “There’s no bad blood between us.” He further disclosed that all settlements owed to Koopman have been completed, ensuring a clean break as Hearts of Oak seeks to bring in a fresh perspective.

The Dutch tactician, who joined ahead of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, parted with Hearts of Oak currently in the 9th position with 15 points after Matchday week 11.They will face Berekum Chelsea on Sunday 26 November at the Accra Sports Stadium in their matchweek 12 fixture.

Assistant Abdul Rahim Bashiru has been appointed to manage the team temporarily until a permanent appointment is made. He recorded his first victory in a 2-1 win away against Accra Lions in their match day 11 fixture.

It is worth noting that Hearts of Oak from next month- December will play its home games at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium after the Accra Sports Stadium was declared unavailable for sports by the National Sports Authority.
