National Coordinator, Ghana National Egg Campaign, Comfort Kyerewa Acheampong, has advised Ghanaians to consume more eggs because it is very good for their health.

She made this statement in relation to the 39th Farmers’ Day Celebration happening today 1st December 2023.

According to her, there are a lot of myths and misconceptions about egg consumption, but most of them are not true.

Speaking on the Farmers’ Day Edition on Happy 98.9FM’s Happy Morning Show, she said, “Everyone has their myth, but eating eggs is very good for the body. A lot of research has been done and they show that eggs are very nutritious and should be consumed everyday”.

She noted that before, everyone was advised to eat at least an egg a month and the egg consumption rate was between 12 and 20 per person per year.

“Now, our consumption rate is 115 per person per year which is very good, but we realized it is reducing because eggs have become expensive and people are unable to afford it like before. However, we’re trying our best to make it affordable again for everyone to be able to buy and eat eggs” she said.

Madam Comfort added that eggs are very nutritious and it’s advisable for everyone to eat at least 2 a day because it helps with the eyesight, skin, bones and a lot more.
