Ghana head coach, Chris Hughton has decided to go to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament without midfield enforcer Thomas Partey.

The Arsenal midfielder has been excluded from the final Black Stars squad named by the coach for the 2023 AFCON scheduled to be held in Ivory Coast.

The midfielder has been injured for months and as a result, has missed several games.

Although he has started training, he is yet to reach his best shape to be able to play again.

Uncertain of when Thomas Partey will be back to his best, Chris Hughton has decided to leave Thomas Partey out of his final squad for the 2023 AFCON.

Instead, Coach Chris Hughton has named Abdul Salis Samid, Baba Iddrisu, Majeed Ashimeru, Elisha Owusu, and Richmond Lamptey in his final squad.

Besides Richmond Lamptey who has been selected from the Ghana Premier League, there are two others from Medeama SC.

Defender Abdul Hamidu Fatawu and striker Jonathan Sowah are both going to the AFCON with Ghana.

The Black Stars officially open camp tomorrow and will be based in Kumasi to prepare for the 2023 AFCON.
