The Black Stars are off to Ivory Coast ahead of the start of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations this weekend.

The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Saturday, January 13 through to February 11, 2024.

Coach Chris Hughton wrapped up preparations for the tournament on Tuesday, having his full squad following the arrival of star midfielder Mohammed Kudus.

The four-time African champions ended their training camp in Kumasi on Tuesday and are embarking on a trip this morning to Ivory Coast, where the AFCON 2023 will be played.

President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo met the team in Kumasi in a special send-off party, where the players were treated to some good entertainment from Afro dancehall superstar Stonebwoy.

Nana Akufo-Addo charged the team to go to Ivory Coast and deliver the best performance to end the country’s 42-year wait for a fifth title.

Ghana hopes to end a 42-year wait for the Africa Cup of Nations by winning the tournament in neighbouring Ivory Coast.

The Black Stars will open their account against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024 before taking on Egypt and Mozambique on January 18 and 22 respectively in Group B.

Ghana have a history of success in the AFCON, having won the title four times, most recently in 1982. However, they have experienced defeat in three finals since then, including losses to Ivory Coast in 1992 on penalties and Egypt in 2010, as well as a repeat defeat to Ivory Coast in 2015.
