Story By: Joel Eshun

The Black Queens of Ghana are currently owed bonuses for their qualification to the Women’s African Cup of Nations ahead of their Olympic Game qualifier against Zambia.

Ghana who last played in the Olympic Games in 2004 are two games away from qualifying for the festival in Paris but must defeat the Copper Queens of Zambia in a two-legged tie.

However, the focus ahead of the game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, February 23, 2024, has shifted to the unpaid bonuses as some reports suggest that the team might boycott the games if their bonuses are not paid.

The Black Queens played 4 games in the Women’s AFCON qualifiers against Rwanda and Namibia (home & away) and two games in the Olympic Game qualifiers against Benin.

The winning bonus of each Black Queens game is $2500 meaning each player is owed $7500 for the 6 games they have played in the Women’s AFCON and Olympic Game qualifiers.

Multiplying the $7500 dollars to the 24 players who were invited during the qualifiers gives you $180,000.
