Collins Adomako-Mensah, the Deputy Minister-designate for Ghana’s Energy Ministry, has assured Ghanaians that measures are underway to address the recent power disruptions plaguing various parts of the country.

Amid growing concerns voiced by former Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor and the Public Utilities and Regulatory Commission (PURC), Adomako-Mensah has pledged a swift resolution within the next two weeks.

This comes in response to recent electricity outages attributed to insufficient fuel supply, according to the PURC. Dr. Kwabena Donkor’s remarks cast doubt on President Akufo-Addo’s assertion of uninterrupted power supply over the past seven years, stressing ongoing challenges in Ghana’s electricity generation capacity.

Adomako-Mensah acknowledged the gravity of the situation and reiterated the government’s dedication to finding a solution.

Despite criticisms from the Minority over the duration of the outages, Adomako-Mensah remains optimistic about resolving the issue promptly.

“I admit that for the past two or three weeks, there have been some power outages. But it is interesting that the two-week power outages are causing the Minority to have a press conference. I am yet to fully settle into the [Energy] Ministry, but my little interaction that I have had with the officers in the Ministry before my vetting is that this should be taken care of in the next two weeks,” Adomako-Mensah stated.
