Ghana’s failures presently outweigh her achievements – CPP

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) says Independence Day should be a wake up call to all Ghanaians to start making conscious efforts towards national progress.

On Wednesday, 6 March 1957, the Gold Coast presently known as Ghana gained independence by the leadership of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

In a Press release which was signed by the Secretary of the CPP’s Interim Council, Kwame Nkrumah Botsio charged Ghanaians to see today, March 6 as a day to ‘take stock’ of what Ghana has failed to achieve. “A time to pause and take stock. Take stock, not of what we have achieved, but what we have failed to achieve, because on the scales, our failures outweigh our achievements.”

The political party in a press release stated that Ghana has no independence and emphatically expressed the degraded position of Ghana’s economy and the evident effects of corruption. “A land that is not independent, that cannot feed itself, full of mistrust, dis-unity, and corruption.”

As today March, 6 marks the day of Ghana’s independence, the CPP charged all Ghanaians to accept the faults of impeding Ghana’s progress and make advancements towards rebuilding Ghana not only for Ghanaians today, but to generations unborn as well. “Fellow Citizens and Inhabitants, as we approach 3 years to the age of 70, the highest age of retirement in the public sector, we must reflect, unite, and rebuild, not only for the sake of our dear country, but for generations unborn. That is true independence.”
