Story By: Ahashie Judeliver Eli

Ghana’s Sprint Coach, Elorm Amenakpor, says Athlete Benjamin Azamati, the nation’s 100m record holder, will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games.

Speaking on Happy FM’s Wamputu Sports with Jeffries Sintim Koree, Coach Elorm confidently stated, ” I can confidently tell you that Benjamin Azamati will qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games”.

Despite Azamati’s recent performance at the just ended African Games, where he secured second place in the semi-final with a time of 10.41 seconds, his fifth-place finish in the final, clocking 10.45 seconds, leaving Ghanaians disheartened, Coach Elorm, remains undeterred, outlining Azamati’s path to Olympic qualification through upcoming competitions. He anticipates Azamati surpassing the 10:00-second mark in the 100m sprint.

“Azamati will compete in other events and competitions before the Olympics and I can assure that he will gain automatic qualification by making the time of 10:00 seconds in the 100m sprint.”

The African Games, held from March 8 to March 23, showcased athletes’ prowess across the continent, with Ghana achieving its highest-ever medal tally of 68.
