Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi has defied his earlier hospitalization to participate in the crucial New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency.

Just hours before the primary was set to begin, Happyghana.com had reported that Nyantakyi, one of the nine aspirants vying for the NPP ticket, had been admitted to the hospital on Friday night due to stomach pains.

A source from his campaign team had suggested the illness may have been caused by Nyantakyi’s hectic schedule as he engaged with delegates ahead of the vote.

However, footage has emerged showing Nyantakyi arriving at the primary election centre and making his way inside to cast his ballot.

The primary is being held to determine the NPP’s candidate for the upcoming by-election in Ejisu, following the untimely passing of the late MP, John Ampontuah Kumah, on March 7, 2024. A total of 1,081 party delegates are tasked with selecting the next parliamentary candidate for the constituency.

The NPP had earlier cautioned both aspirants and delegates to strictly adhere to the election guidelines, reiterating calls for candidates not to camp delegates.

Happyghana.com will continue to provide updates on the Ejisu NPP primary as the story develops.
