Former Asante Kotoko striker, Michael Osei popularly known as Ember Power has narrated how his career with the Porcupines Warriors ended abruptly after a defeat to rivals Accra Hearts of Oak.

Ember Power who was a member of the Asante Kotoko team that lost the maiden edition of the CAF Confederation Cup in 2005 to rivals Accra Hearts of Oak said he never recover from the loss.

He told Dan Kweku Yeboah in an interview that he desperately wanted to win that final against Hearts of Oak having lost the CAF Winners’ Cup final in 2002 to Wydad Casablanca.

“After the match, I felt my time was up. I lost two finals. I lost to Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) in 2002 (CAF Winners’ Cup final) and decided to win a trophy for Kotoko and break the ’82 record.”

“I waited another two years and lost to nobody but our rivals Hearts of Oak. I didn’t decide to retire after that match; I just decided to leave Kotoko because there was nothing left to play for,” he said.

Asante Kotoko in 2005 lost the CAF Confederation Cup to Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Sports in Kumasi after a 2-2 aggregate score line in both legs.
