The office of the Presidency has confirmed the tragic news of a vehicular accident involving the vehicles belonging to the convoy of the President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a press statement issued by the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House, the incident was disclosed to have occurred on Sunday, May 19, 2024 on the Bunso-Akyem Asafo stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway.

The convoy which accompanied the President to Kumasi for a series of engagements over the weekend, encountered this tragedy resulting in the death of one Kwesi Atta, an official driver on the Presidential convoy.

The release signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin confirmed that the President made an earlier trip to Accra via military aircraft and is safe.

However, several members of the convoy’s security detail have sustained several injuries and were immediately rushed to Suhum Government Hospital.

The Office of the President extends profound sympathy to the family of the deceased and wishes injured persons speedy recovery.
