The Electoral Commission has announced December 2 2024 as the date for a special voting in the 2024 general elections. The special voting process is to cater to a specific group of registered voters, including journalists and security personnel.
This provision enables them to cast their votes ahead of the general elections on December 7.

Individuals and organizations are to submit their applications from June 17 to July 1, 2024, to be eligible for special voting. To qualify, they must provide proof that they will be occupied on Election Day, December 7, 2024, and unable to vote in person.

Jean Mensa, the Electoral Commission’s chairperson, revealed this information during a press conference in Accra on Tuesday.

“To apply for special voting, individuals should contact the returning officer in the constituency where they are registered voters. For group applications from institutions, a member list should be submitted to the returning officer, who will use it as a reference register to streamline the process.”

“Special Voting Applicants must provide a list containing their names, voter ID card numbers, and polling station codes as they appear on their voter ID cards.
Additionally, all applicants must submit their applications in person to the returning officer,” she stated.
