The Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners(GNASSM) is demanding leadership change. A day after issuing a statement calling for the resignation of GNASSM executives, concerned members are still waiting for a response.
The miners accused the leadership of neglect, exploitation, and prioritizing personal interests over the association’s well-being. Despite the strongly-worded statement, which highlighted issues like lack of transparency and disregard for constitutional provisions, the executives have yet to break their silence.
The statement alleged that the leadership of Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners has allocated 30 out of 90 concessions designated for national distribution to certain executives, exhibiting unprecedented levels of greed and ineffective leadership disintegrating the association. The members believe that these leadership failures have hindered the association’s progress and development, preventing it from reaching its full potential.
Speaking to Happyghana.com, Philip K. A. Bawah a member of the association confirmed that there hasn’t been any updates since the release, leaving members in a state of uncertainty and eager for a resolution.
“We are still waiting to hear from leadership, hoping for a swift response to our demands,” he said.
