University of Ghana Sports Stadium, Accra, Ghana – June 5th, 2024

Excitement continues to build here at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium as Day Two of the CAA Region II Championships unfolds! After an impressive showing yesterday, Team Ghana is hungry for more.

Day One saw a golden blitz by the Ghanaian athletes, amassing a total of five gold medals across various disciplines. Edwin Kwabla Gadayi set the tone with a dominant victory in the men’s 100m, clocking an impressive 10.28 seconds.

This win serves as a testament to Ghana’s meticulous preparation for the championship, keeping the Olympic qualifying aspect firmly in mind.

Esther Obenewa, the high jump queen, secured gold with a jump of 1.79m. While happy with the win, Obenewa aspires for even greater heights, hinting at a burning desire to push her limits further.

The stadium erupted in cheers as Ishmael Arthur, Ghana’s long-distance ace, delivered a sensational performance in the 10,000m race. Arthur’s time of 28:11.79 solidified the effectiveness of his rigorous training regime with coach WO Moro 1.

Adding another layer of exhilaration, Ghana’s female sprint relay team – Deborah Acheampong, Janet Mensah, Mary Boakye, and Hor Halutie – electrified the crowd with a breathtaking performance in the women’s 4x100m, securing another gold medal for the home nation.
