The P.R.O for Concerned Drivers Association, David Agboado has stated that the idea to reintroduce tollbooths by the Minister of roads and highway is a step in right direction.

According to him, this is good news because almost all the drivers in this country were unhappy when the toolbooths were removed.

In an interview with Kwadwo Sefah-Danquah on Happy 98.9 fm morning show, Mr Agboado said most of the African countries they travel to have road tolls and they pay when they ply those roads, so same should apply to Ghana.

” The cargo or bigger cars from our neighboring African countries like, Togo, Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso cause the most damage to our roads because of the heavy loads they carry”.

He also said they are most grateful for the Minister’s decision but this time around, the ministry should modernize it to generate revenue for the country in order to construct more roads and fix dilapidated ones.

However, the former minister for Roads and highway, Amoako Atta must be held responsible for the country losing over three hundred million Ghana Cedis in road tolls, because there was no Stakeholders engagements.

He also recommended that the transport ministry should increase the toll amounts.
