Okada business has reduced unemployment dramatically- P.R.O for Okada riders association

The Okada Riders Association of Ghana has refuted claims made by Mr Awal Mohammed, P.R.O for Youth Employment Agency (YEA), regarding Okada Riders.

According to Mr Mohammed, 60 to 70% of Okada Riders are foreigners and for that matter do not have Ghana card, a statement that Okada Riders insist is false and damaging to their reputation.

In a press release issued on 11th June 2024, Okada Riders Association of Ghana (ORAG) urged the general public to squash the statement by National Youth Employment Agency( NYEA) because “they are using this as a political tool to undermine our work since we are getting closer December 7th election but rather Ghanaians should support the Okada business since it has created job opportunity for the youth reducing unemployment”.

” (ORAG) wants to reiterate that close to 85% of our riders are Ghanaians who have gone through the process and thus acquired all relevant and necessary documentation as a qualified motorist and therefore have Ghana cards, passport, Bank account, Mobile Money accounts and other insurance policies since we pay taxes and also exercise our franchise in general elections and contribute heavily to the development of the Ghanaian economy”.

“As an association we will like to urge Mr Awal Mohammed to retract his statement with immediate effect in order not to incite any misunderstanding between ORAG and NYEA in the near future”, the statement added.
