President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on July 15 officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the dualization of the Anwiankwanta – Ahenema Kokoben Road, signaling the start of a vital infrastructure project in the Ashanti region. This 20-kilometer road expansion aims to significantly reduce traffic congestion, enhance connectivity, and boost economic growth in the region. The project marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve Ghana’s road network and enhance the quality of life for citizens.

Speaking to a crowd of local officials, residents, and stakeholders, President Akufo-Addo underscored the significance of the project, highlighting its impact on the region’s connectivity and economic growth. He stated the dualization of the Anwiankwanta – Ahenema Kokoben Road will bring much-needed relief to the persistent traffic congestion that has long plagued this critical route, facilitating the smooth movement of goods and services to key towns such as Ahenema Kokoben, Brofoyeduru, Kotwi, Trede, Adjamesu Dominase, Ofoase Kokoben, Anwiankwanta, Bekwai, and Obuasi, and ushering in a new era of economic prosperity for the region.

President Akufo-Addo declared that his government has surpassed the road infrastructure accomplishments of the previous Mills and Mahama administrations, building more roads than both predecessors combined.

He announced that his administration has made significant strides in road infrastructure development, completing an impressive 12,830 kilometers of roads since 2017. This achievement surpasses the 4,636 kilometers of roads built between 2009 and 2016, demonstrating a remarkable increase in road construction, asphalt overlays, new bridges, and ongoing interchange projects, showcasing the government’s commitment to enhancing Ghana’s road network and facilitating easier travel and economic growth.
