Member of Parliament for Zebilla East, Cletus Avoka has urged the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, to exercise restraint and refrain from appealing the Ambulance case to the Supreme Court.

This comes on the heels of the Appeal Court’s landmark decision on Tuesday, July 30, to acquit and discharge Ato Forson, bringing an end to the protracted legal battle. Avoka, who had always maintained that the case was without merit, expressed his lack of surprise at the outcome, stating that he had believed from the onset that the case should not have been allowed to linger in court.

He pointed to the testimony of former Finance Minister Seth Terkper, which unequivocally confirmed that the funds allocated for the ambulance purchase were properly utilized, and questioned why the majority continued to pursue the case despite “this clear evidence”.

Avoka emphasized that it is time to put the matter to rest and allow the country to move forward, rather than continuing to waste valuable resources on a case that has been conclusively settled. He cautioned the Attorney General against exercising his discretion to appeal the case further, urging him to consider the broader implications for the country and the need to prioritize more pressing matters.
