New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Greater Accra Women’s Organizer, Grace Acheampong, has sparked controversy claiming that Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is not capable of holding her own in a debate with Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In an interview with Happy 98.9 FM’s Reynolds Agyemang (Masq) ahead of the party’s manifesto launch in Takoradi on Sunday August 18, Grace Acheampong stated that the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), would outshine the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in a debate.

She cited NAPO’s impressive track record in the education sector, particularly his implementation of the Free SHS policy, as a significant advantage over Opoku-Agyemang.

Grace Acheampong responded to calls for a debate between the two running mates, warning that Opoku-Agyemang would “disgrace all women in Ghana” if she engages in a debate with NAPO, due to her lack of comparable achievements and experience. She expressed confidence in the NPP’s manifesto and its ability to deliver on its promises, highlighting the party’s successful implementation of policies outlined in its previous manifesto.
