By: Nana Antwi Boasiako

Chief of Sefwi Boinzan and Kontihene of the Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Area in the Western North Region, Nana Ofori Ahenkan II has made a passionate appeal for peace as Ghana approaches the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the Elluo Festival, which was themed “Creating a Peaceful Atmosphere for 2024 Election Before, During, and After; The Role of Traditional Leaders,” Nana Ofori Ahenkan II highlighted the vital role traditional leaders play in promoting national peace and unity. He emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere before, during, and after the elections, and urged all stakeholders to work together towards this goal.

The chief appealed to political leaders, party loyalists, and the general populace to put the nation’s stability above partisan interests. He implored Ghanaians to cultivate an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect, particularly during the election season, emphasizing the need for unity and peaceful coexistence. By doing so, he encouraged citizens to prioritize the well-being of the nation over individual political agendas, fostering a harmonious environment for the electoral process.

He further emphasized the importance of a collaborative effort between traditional leaders, government entities, and security agencies to guarantee a peaceful electoral process. He stressed the need for all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue, employ effective conflict resolution strategies, and work together to prevent and resolve potential disputes that may arise during the elections. By fostering a spirit of cooperation and open communication, he encouraged stakeholders to prioritize peaceful conduct and ensure a stable environment for the democratic process to unfold.
