Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama has vowed to restore the operations of all banks collapsed by the ruling NPP government should he be elected president come December 7th – general elections.

The former president of Ghana, made this bold vow at the launch of the NDC 2024 Manifesto on Saturday, August 24, 2024 held at the University of Education, Winneba .

The initiative is enlisted as part of a four year consolidation plan to stabilize Ghana’s economy. “In the first 120 days of office we shall hold a National Economic Dialogue where we shall introduce a four-year fiscal consolidation plan to rationalize taxes by abolishing the e-levy, the public levy and the 10% levy on bet winnings; we shall also restore the operations of all wrongly collapsed banks and financial institutions.” he said.

This promise made by Mr. Mahama follows an earlier encounter with Global President of Groupe Ndoum, Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum in July 2024, who made an appeal to Mahama to restore GN Bank should he be elected as President of Ghana in the next election.

Mahama who termed the license seizure of Groupe Ndoum by the government as a hasty action and promised to initiate an independent review of the entire banking sector cleanup process under his administration.
