Member of Parliament for Nsawam- Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh Dompreh has said that the Minority in Parliament cannot sorely blame the NPP government for polluted water bodies in the country.

The country over the weekend was awaken to the poor state of water bodies after the Ghana Water Company released a statement saying that rivers degraded due to galamsey activities are the cause of the shortage of clean water in the Central Region and others areas.

Speaking at the emergency sitting of Parliament aimed at looking for solutions to the problem, Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompreh said that the NDC polluted the water more than the NPP so they shouldn’t try to pin it on the ruling government.

“We will debate this matter and the culprit will be mentioned, in fact we are ready to debate this right now. You (NDC) have had the opportunity to rule this county before and I can tell you polluted the water more than us,” Annoh Dompreh said on the floor of Parliament.

Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson said the government can’t shift the blame because gallamsey activities are the cause of the water pollution and they have failed in the fight against illegal mining.
