The office of the Attorney General has declared their support for the #SayNoToGalamsey demonstration held by concerned Ghanaian youths.

Concerned Citizens on Thursday, October 3, 2024, began their three day demonstration tagged #SayNoToGalamsey aimed at highlighting the devastating effects of illegal mining.

The group petitioned the Office of the Attorney General to show clemency to the 54 individuals who have been remanded in police custody for participating in an earlier demonstration.

Receiving the petition on behalf of the Attorney General, Isaac Willberforce Mensah who is the spokesperson of the Office said they as officers of the law are not against the fight for the protection of the environment.

“We thank for you doing this on behalf of all Ghanaians. You are protesting against galamsey and the quality of our water and we cannot be against that.”

“We stand with you and we will fight with you by prosecuting those who case has come in front of us as perpetrators of galamsey, I can assure you that within the hour, he will receive this petition,” Isaac Willberforce Mensah.
