Leader, founder, and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has pledged to launch major job creation projects aimed at transforming the fortunes of Ghana.

He highlighted the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone project as the largest of these initiatives, promising its completion if elected president in the upcoming December 7 polls.

During a courtesy call on Ejisu Manhene, Nana Afrane Okese IV, on Thursday, October 3, 2024, as part of his 19-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Kyerematen expressed his intention to build large-scale projects that could reshape the country. He assured that these projects would drastically change the nation’s trajectory, leaving Ghanaians unable to recall the country’s previous state.

He revealed that the idea for the Greater Kumasi Industrial City and Special Economic Zone was developed with input from his father and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and that the project is now set to begin.

Mr. Kyerematen also mentioned that Nana Afrane Okese IV played a significant role in drafting the project, which is estimated to cost $2.5 billion.

Explaining further, he noted that he had personally secured $30 million in World Bank funding to initiate the project, underscoring his commitment to Asanteman and Ejisu. He also secured an additional $100 million from the government of the Republic of Korea for phase one of the project.

Despite the government’s progress on the Buankra Inland Port, Kyerematen argued that the port alone would not be sufficient to advance the industrialization agenda he has championed, making the industrial city a necessary addition.
