The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has asked Ghanaians living in Lebanon to immediately
take advantage of the limited available flights in Lebanon to leave the country.

In a press statement released by the Ministry on Friday, October 4th, 2024, it expressed concern about the ongoing crisis within Lebanon, where over one million people have been displaced due to Israeli Airstrikes, including a recent incident in Beirut

“The rapidly unfolding crisis in Lebanon and its potential danger to Ghanaians living in that country, is a matter of great concern to the Government of Ghana.”

The statement added that, “Considering the deteriorating situation, the Government of Ghana encourages all Ghanaian nationals in Lebanon to take advantage of the limited available flights in Lebanon to immediately leave the country.”

The Government wishes to encourage Ghanaians living there who may not have travel documents to contact the Embassy of Ghana in Cairo, Egypt or the Ghana Honorary Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon to obtain Emergency Travel Certificates.

The Israelis on Monday September 23, 2024
unleashed a devastating barrage of airstrikes across Lebanon, marking the deadliest day for the country since the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah, the powerful Iran-backed militant group.

The intense bombing campaign sparked widespread terror and despair among Lebanese residents, killing over 500 people, including women and children, and injuring more than 1,800 others, according to authorities.

Residents flee their homes in desperation, seeking safety, as clashes between Israel and Hezbollah continued in southern Lebanon.

Reports from the Israeli military, Hezbollah, and Lebanon’s army confirmed fighting in at least two areas near the border, specifically around closed military zones where Israel had amassed troops and equipment.
