Ghana generated 3.944 billion in 2023 in Non- Traditional Exports- CEO of Ghana Exports Promotion Authority

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Osafohene Dr. Afua Asabea Asare I has highlighted some initiatives her outfit has rolled out to support Ghana’s economic transformation.

Speaking at the Meet the Press Series on Sunday 6th October, 2024 on Expanding Ghana’s Export : strategic growth through Trade Houses, Youth Engagement, and Horticultural Excellence, she highlighted key projects GEPA is undertaking which include; the expansion of Ghana Trade Houses to increase market access, the SheTrades program empowering women-led businesses, and the Youth in Export initiative creating jobs for young entrepreneurs.

According to her, Ghana’s Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) in 2023 generated 3.944 billion, reflecting a significant growth from $3.531 billion in 2022.

Lot of work has gone into achieving this milestone, ‘’This is the first time in this period that the export of this country has actually grown exponentially’’, we have grown exports for 2023 we grew exports to 11.5 % its contribution to the overall national exports is about 24%’’, she said.

She noted that, the highest Non- Traditional Exports earner for the country comes from Iron, Iron Rods, Steel circles and sheet billet, which gives the country 4,47 million US dollars .
The growth of top NTEs earner between 2023 and 2022 is about 78% .

The Coconut Revitalization Project and other horticultural efforts were also spotlighted, with 2023 NTE earnings hitting $3.944 billion and an impressive 11.75% growth.
