Reigning Accra Basketball League MVP, James Amotoe has been the driving force behind Spintex Knights’ historic run, helping the team become the first Ghanaian side to reach the Elite 16 stage of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

With an average of 25.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 6.7 assists per game, Amotoe’s brilliance on the court has been pivotal to the Knights’ progress in the tournament.

In the Knights’ crucial final group game against Liberia’s Mighty Barolle, Amotoe came close to a triple-double, scoring 27 points, pulling down nine rebounds, and dishing out seven assists in 35 minutes of intense action.

Though the Knights lost 69-73, Amotoe’s leadership kept the team’s hopes alive, guiding them to a second-place finish in Group B and a spot in the Elite 16.

The Knights’ journey through the preliminary round wasn’t without challenges. They ended the group stage with a 1-2 record, tied with Mighty Barolle and Elan Coton of Benin.

Thanks to a superior points difference, the Knights secured second place, advancing behind group leaders Abidjan Fighters, who completed the round undefeated.

Amotoe’s standout performances have not only ensured the Knights’ place in the next phase but also marked a new milestone for Ghanaian basketball.

His consistency and versatility on both ends of the court embody the determination of the Knights, a team now on the brink of making even more history by reaching the BAL main tournament.

As the team prepares for the Elite 16, Amotoe remains central to their ambitions, inspiring teammates and fans alike.

With Spintex Knights already surpassing the 2019 efforts of Braves of Customs, Ghana’s previous BAL representatives, Amotoe’s leadership could push them to new heights and lay the foundation for a new era in Ghanaian basketball.
