An initial toxicology report on pop star Liam Payne shows he had cocaine in his system when he fell to his death from the third floor balcony of his hotel room in Argentina, The Associated Press (AP) reported.

According to AP, the initial report “suggested evidence of exposure to cocaine,” citing an Argentinian official who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to brief journalists.

Reports indicate that the final toxicology report findings are not expected to be released for some weeks as the happenings surrounding the star’s fatal fall last week undergo continuous investigation.

“Everything indicates that the musician was alone when the fall occurred,” the public prosecutor’s office in Argentina said Thursday.

Payne, (31) who was previously open about his struggle with addiction and mental health, died last week at CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires.
